PP, Vox and Junts lay the law of adding to create an anti -corruption office

PP, Vox and Junts have prevented a law to add an independent agency for the fight against corruption on Tuesday. The initiative is one of the main ideas that Yolanda Díaz put on the table when the Koldo case exploded and that resumed after the Santos Cerdán scandal.

The law raised the creation of a “preventive” body but that has the capacity to open investigations in both public institutions, and in parties, unions and companies that receive subsidies from the State. The vote is over with the 176 votes against the rights, 170 support and one abstention.

On the one hand, it raised the creation of an early alert system to detect irregularities or bad administrative practices and foresees a “comprehensive corruption prevention strategy”. But he also sought to investigate Motu Proprio. The officials of this agency, propose the text of adding, will be able to exercise functions of “research and inspection”, can be attached in any dependence on “administrations and public entities or center affected by a public service” to “perform on situ checks and examine the documents, files, books, records, accounting and databases”.

None of this will enter into force, although the creation of an agency like this is one of the measures against the corruption announced by the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in his appearance on July 9 in Congress, after the outbreak of the Cerdán case. The Socialists have voted in favor of the measure, although some sources of the group recognized in private that this was not the best time to take a topic like this, even less after the government has found tail wind with the issue of Israel.

As last week with the reduction of working hours, PP, Vox and Junts have articulated again a negative majority to stop this initiative, although they have done so for different reasons. In private, the Catalan independentistas assured this afternoon that after studying the text the measure gave off a strong “recentralizer tufo.”

“The State cannot pretend to give integrity lessons while maintaining opaque structures and alien to any democratic control, such as the Crown, the CNI, the reserved funds, the judicial sewers and the Ministry of Interior, and we do not see that this proposition of the law can end that opacity, you cannot donate integrity lessons from the regime of 78, which has pardoned 227 condemned by corruption,” the deputy has defended the deputy. Postconvergent Josep Pagès.

The PP has not wanted to enter the content of the law to show its opposition during the debate and has preferred to accuse to add of supporting a corrupt government. “Ladies of adding, do you really want to collaborate to regenerate our democracy? Well, be consistent, begin to condemn their own corruption, leave the government and then respect and support the work of the judges who fight against corruption. And only then will you have credibility to present a proposition of the law against corruption,” said Deputy Edurne Uriarte.
