Guillermo Blanco opens the ban on the succession of Miguel Ángel Revilla and confirms his candidacy to lead the PRC
Guillermo Blanco, former counselor of Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and Environment of the Government of Cantabria during the last legislature, has initiated the first internal movements to present his candidacy and become the successor of Miguel Ángel Revilla, the historic founder and leader of the Regionalist Party of Cantabria (PRC) for more than four decades, which he already announced after the last regional elections that he would not repeat as a sign in the next elections.
“I have started talking to the numbers 1 of the different municipalities, explaining my intention to attend as a candidate, knowing before what they think of local committees. It is a process that I have started a few days ago, there is still time. I have taken the step after thinking about it a lot, so as not to regret the future of not having tried, ”Guillermo Blanco himself has confirmed to Eldiario.es.
Already in the last Christmas meal, the still general secretary of the PRC, Miguel Ángel Revilla, confirmed that he will not return to the elections to the Presidency of Cantabria and announced that the party will celebrate in “April or May” of 2025 an extraordinary congress in which the militancy will choose the candidate who will give you the relay. One of his concerns, expressed on multiple occasions, is that this process does not become a pitched battle and has asked the militancy to work in a consensus candidacy. He also considers the option to continue at the head of the party as general secretary until the end of the legislature and that what is now chosen is the next electoral candidate, without losing control of the party.
Revilla trusted man
Blanco has always been one of the names that have sounded the most in the list of candidates to happen to Miguel Ángel Revilla over the last years. The one who was chief of the former president of Cantabria for more than two decades, which for the first time during the last legislature made the leap to the first political line as a rural development advisor, livestock, fishing, food and environment, currently exercises as Autonomous deputy and is one of the vice -secretaries of the PRC since the last party of the party.

And white has grown politically next to Revilla. Being your shadow, almost literally. He has managed his agenda, has accompanied him on his trips, has shared hours and hours with the leader of the PRC, until the last legislature asked him to free themselves from those functions to begin his own career. Since his appointment as a counselor he has enjoyed a great prominence, mainly for his hard confrontation with former minister Teresa Ribera on account of the prohibition of hunting wolves in Cantabria, making decisions that even brought him closer to the imputation after the accusations in judicial headquarters of groups of groups Ecologists and always linked to livestock and rural world.
Born in Ongayo in 1965, he is a social graduate from the University of Cantabria and also has the degree in labor relations by said academic institution. Their labor beginnings were as a private security agent, Local Police and Sports Manager at the City Council of Suances, where he was a councilor for the PRC.
Now it opens the ban on the succession race, in a underground battle that still had no official candidates, but that could be publicly unleashed in the coming weeks with the participation of other candidates such as the deputy and also Vice -Secretary Paula Fernández or some covered between the mayors and Regionalist mayors.
