Poniente, Levante … These are the most frequent winds of the Peninsula

Section
This wind from the North affects the Catalan coast and the Balearic Islands. The Pyrenees serve as an acceleration zone, so gusts are usually strong and low temperatures.
Levant
Who has not heard about this wind on a beach in Cádiz? It comes from the East and is also common throughout the Mediterranean coast. It is known for its high degree of humidity and for being especially strong in the area of the sea of Alborán and in the area of the Strait of Gibraltar. It is also usually sticky and annoying.
West
In the same Cadiz coast it is known to be together with the opposite of the Levante: soft, cold, much less humid (it is lost as it enters Spain) and less annoying. It comes from the West, from the Atlantic, so it affects that side of the Peninsula.
Mistral
In Aragon it is more popular to call it from deer. It comes from the northwest and is usually cold, dry and strong
Sirocco
Used colloquially to define a start of madness, it is known as Xaloc and comes from southeast. It is dry and warm by the sand of the Sahara that usually drags. When we hear about a calima or red powder in suspension behind it is this wind as guilty.
Gregal
It comes from the northeast, they usually “suffer” it in the Balearic Islands. It is characterized by being cold and dry when coming from Europe.
Ostro or noon
The Ostro wind comes from the south and is also known as noon wind or midforn in the Mediterranean area. Warm and humid.
Lebeche
This is the southwest wind that causes the storms of the Atlantic during spring and autumn. It can also drag suspended powder from North Africa.
Galerna
Violent and sudden storm that occurs in the sea, near the coast, and that is characterized by its intensity and speed. They know him out of the Cantabrian.
